MUSIC PARK ANNOUNCE INAUGURAL GRAND STRAND FREEDOM FESTIVAL

With
a focus on expanding tourism along the Grand Strand into
the shoulder seasons and at the same time offering area
residents an opportunity to enjoy a unique, patriotic family
weekend, two area groups have joined forces with a growing
number of other businesses to introduce the Inaugural Grand
Strand Freedom Fest.
Business
Owners Organized to Support Tourism (BOOST) and Freestyle
Music Park announced today a weekend long event, called
Grand Strand Freedom Fest, scheduled for September 11th
13th, 2009. The event will be held in honor and memory
of the victims, families and first responders of September
11th, 2001 and of the brave women and men of Americas
Armed Forces who have been protecting us ever since. A portion
of the proceeds raised by this not-for-profit event will
be directed to Operation First Response, an organization
that has been supporting wounded soldiers and their families
since 2001.
Robert
Kelley, president and co-founder of BOOST and John Stine,
Director of Sales & Marketing for Freestyle Music Park
joined together to announce the new Festival and a preliminary
schedule of activities, events and concerts that Kelley
called maybe the most significant new event in the
Myrtle Beach area in many years and one that
is sure to grow and expand as America honors and remembers
September 11th, 2001.
Highlights
of the weekend will include a Concert for America by The
Long Bay Symphony (Friday evening/location pending) and
a daylong festival featuring a pre-tour concert by country
music superstar LeAnn Rimes on Saturday night at Freestyle
Music Park. Additional entertainment include afternoon concerts
by Charlie Floyd and Southern Express, Jeffrey Allen Edwards
and Southern Blues and 70s superstar Billy Joe Royal.
With
a group of Americas wounded heroes leading the way,
visitors to Freestyle Music Park will also enjoy a Parade
featuring local high school marching bands and the roar
of Rolling Thunder and other veteran, police, fire &
rescue oriented motorcycles through the Park beginning at
1pm. Exhibits from the likes of the Pearl Harbor Foundation,
the September 11th Memorial Foundation and others will dot
the beautiful walkways through the Park.
Operation
First Response founder Peggy Baker announced today that
wounded warrior and Silver Star recipient Sean Bennett will
be among the soldiers here for the weekend, along with Military
American Idol Winner Vicki Golding. Bennett has launched
his singing career on tour with Billy Ray Cyrus; Golding
will sing the national anthem for the Festival on Friday
evening.

Festival
officials also announced that corporate sponsor package
are available to include everything from logos appearing
on specialty items, to advertising in the Festival Program,
to partial or full sponsorship of musical acts. Details

of August 3, 2009, corporate sponsors for the inaugural
